WWE: ‘Dudley Boyz,’ AKA ‘Team 3D,’ Want Another Run, ‘Don’t Understand’ Why They Haven’t Been Asked Back

The Dudley Boyz (aka “Team 3D”), who many fans consider to be among the 10 best tag teams to ever wrestle, are perplexed as to why they’re not on the grandest stage of all.

In a recent interview with Sports Illustrated, Devon Hughes (D-Von Dudley) and Mark LoMonaco (Bubba Ray Dudley) expressed their thoughts on the matter, and what they had to say bordered on frustration.

Take this quote from D-Von, for instance.

“For us not to be back there, knowing that we’re in the best shape we’ve ever been in, I don’t understand it…. We’re better now than we were 10 or 15 years ago…. I understand that they want the future. But without the older generation that paved the way for these young guys to come, you’re not going to have it. Wrestling is a lost art, so you need the older guys like us to help show the younger guys how it’s done. I don’t understand it, though I know it needs to be on their terms.”

Bubba Ray agreed.

“Take the Dudley Boyz and put them back in WWE, and you’d add instant credibility to the tag division…. The great thing about the Dudleys is we can work with any team and we can work any style. Not only will we help one team get over and learn and get better, but we can help all of them. It seems pretty simple to me — having the Dudleys back in the WWE is best for business, so I don’t have a really great answer for why we are not there. Only they know.”

Unfortunately, the WWE hasn’t issued a statement on this interview yet, so if they do know, they haven’t told anyone outside the company.

It doesn’t seem like WWE has soured on the tag team, if Bubba Ray’s appearance in this past Royal Rumble is any indication. And the guy can still get a mean pop. Just look at this video for proof shot from a fan’s perspective. Deafening.

Of course, the answer as to why the Dudley Boyz haven’t returned could very well be in what D-Von said. With the recent NXT push on the main WWE product — first with Sami Zayn vs. John Cena, then the enormous Kevin Owens push, and finally the confidence the company showed in its women’s division — Vince McMahon and company could finally be putting their full attention on story and character for the new crop of talent.

But what do you think, readers? Should the Dudley Boyz get one more crack at the big time?
