WWE: Charlotte And ‘The Four Horsewomen,’ Who Will They Be?
From the archive: published May 27, 2016, 10 years ago. Details may have changed since.
WWE Women’s Champion Charlotte — now that she has her old man out of the way and Dana Brooke watching her back — has a tall order in front of her.
Form the first ever “Four Horsewomen” faction.
Yes, it’s true that former UFC Bantamweight Champion Ronda Rousey had her own Horsewomen when she was riding high, but that ship has since sailed and it was never really “official” anyway since it didn’t involve a Flair and wasn’t a part of professional wrestling.
Now that the focus is back on Charlotte where it belongs, the time has come to fill out those final three roles. Here are some possibilities from the current WWE and NXT rosters.
1. Dana Brooke
Ric Flair already compared Dana Brooke to the Enforcer, Arn Anderson, at the May 23 episode. That’s an intriguing possibility that Brooke herself hasn’t actually stepped into yet.
After being a punching bag of sorts for Asuka in NXT, she had become something of a jobber and Emma’s lackey.
Her debut on the main brand changed that. To date, she is unbeaten, having logged two consecutive victories over Becky Lynch.
She still has a bit of the lackey on her and could use a few more dominant wins before being seen as an answer to AA, but it’s a character turn that WWE should consider as Brooke’s in-ring skills develop further.

2. Tessa Blanchard
Tessa is the daughter of former Four Horseman Tully Blanchard, and she is a talented young star in her own right. With a couple of NXT appearances under her belt in the jobber role, she may not be ready to make a run at the top of the roster just yet but there are some exciting story possibilities with two of the new four being descendants of the originals.
WWE would have to amp up Blanchard’s development in NXT and have her win some matches before that could happen, though.
3. Alexa Bliss
Bliss would fit in nicely as a Four Horsewoman for the simple fact that she has a mean streak on par with either of the Andersons (Tully, too, for that matter).
Alexa has good mic skills and a solid command of the ring. As a miniature version of Charlotte, she would be entertaining to watch as part of an all-women faction — especially one with a penchant for punishment and humiliation, two things Bliss often likes to deal out to her opponents.
4. Nia Jax
As an unstoppable powerhouse, Nia could be quite the leg-breaker for Charlotte in her quest to stay atop the Women’s Division.
Add to that her bloodline of being the Rock’s cousin, and there is something one could play with from a storyline angle.
In the quest for championship gold, the Four Horsewomen could use a future NXT titleholder in their stable.
And if the WWE isn’t ready to give Jax that distinction just yet, they could save it for Tessa Blanchard while bumping Nia Jax over to Smackdown where she could hold a title over there should they choose to add championships post-brand split.
Charlotte now needs to recruit Tessa Blanchard and Nia Jax to complete her Four Horsewomen.

5. Emma
Emma fell to the bottom of the list of possibilities simply because the dynamic she once shared with Dana Brooke now seems to have been supplanted by Charlotte herself.
When she comes back from her injury, it will be interesting to see how WWE handles her and Dana.
But what do you think about a Four Horsewomen angle, readers?
Is that where WWE is heading with Charlotte, and if so, who would be the three women you would choose to round out the order?
