A World War I-era teddy bear was discovered by workers at Bristol airport over a year ago.
Staff said they discovered the teddy bear and an old black-and-white photo inside a black bag in the departure lounge. The picture shows two little girls and the beloved bear posing for the camera.
Workers at the airport also discovered writing on the back of the photograph.
“With dearest love and kisses to our darling Daddie from your loving daughter and sonnie Dora and Glyn,” the message reads.
Unfortunately, the one-eyed teddy bear has yet to be claimed by the person who left it behind. With a little help from social media, the search is now to find the owner of the abandoned toy.
Bristol airport spokeswoman Jacqui Mills described the bear as “battered” and “well-loved.”
“He was with lost property and we were certain that someone would claim him, but when they didn’t he was passed over to the airport police who took very good care of him and tried every means possible to find his family,” Mills explained.
She added, “He has a floppy ear and I think he’s had an operation to his tummy, but he has a few cuddles in him yet.”
Unfortunately, the teddy bear — whose has been given the nickname Bristol — has been lost for nearly a year. Although workers have poured over flight records in hopes of locating the owner, nobody has come forward to claim him.
For the moment, Bristol is currently calling Mills’ desk home. However, the airport spokeswoman is hoping the bear will soon find his way back to his proper home.
“It would be so lovely to perhaps find Dora and Glyn or their family and reunite them with this gorgeous bear,” she explained.
Anyone with information regarding the teddy bear’s owner is encouraged to contact the Bristol airport. More information about the bear can be found at the airport’s official Facebook page.
