A woman in Florida was shocked to find that an iguana had blocked her toilet after she had just used it.

17-year-old Lily Lindquist believed that she had clogged the family’s toilet on Sunday evening. But when she looked back to investigate the issue she couldn’t remove the blockage from the drain.

This provoked Lily to ask her 51-year-old mother Marian Lindquist to use a plunger to try and shift the problem. However, even with the use of this device, the iguana couldn’t be removed from the family toilet in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

At this point the Lindquists decided to call up a plumber to get rid of the huge obstruction. But when Ailsa Scott, a plumber of 12 years, arrived on the scene to finally get rid of the blockage, she was shocked to see what was actually in there. Scott explained her discovery to Local 10, while she admitted to ABC News that she couldn’t help but let out a scream when she originally found the creature.

“To my surprise, I pulled out that large iguana. At first I thought it was a toy, and then it started moving around. I’ve never seen anything like this before. This is the first time I pulled something like that out of a toilet.”

Lily Lindquist admitted that she couldn’t look as the iguana struggled, stating, “I didn’t want to see an iguana in the toilet that I just tried to use.”

It’s believed that the iguana had made its journey into Lindquist’s toilet from the man-made lake near their Poinsettia Heights neighborhood. Scott noted that she thinks the creature had come inside their home from a rooftop vent before it got stuck in the toilet.

Lily has since shut all of the vents, explaining, “I don’t want to be there when an iguana flies out of the toilet or an iguana bites me when I’m trying to go to the bathroom.”

Unfortunately the iguana didn’t survive his battle with the toilet, and Marian admitted that she couldn’t help but mourn his death. “We didn’t want the iguana to die,” she declared. “We did not know the iguana was there.”
