Justin Bieber just split with his most recent girlfriend, Sofia Richie, leaving him free to move on with a new gal pal or, perhaps, revisit an old acquaintance. Bieber’s breakup with Richie comes amid a swirl of reports concerning his former girlfriend Selena Gomez, who has been struggling with issues reportedly ranging from lupus to alleged drug abuse and even rehab. Will Justin use his free time to reach out to Selena?

Gomez seems to be protecting herself against that chance by changing her phone number, a source told Us Weekly . Even though the two have stayed in touch for most of their on-again, off-again relationship history, which began in 2011, Selena has reached the point where she does not want to hear from him, revealed the Gomez insider.
“[Selena] changed her phone number. She told everyone not to give it to [Justin].”
Us reports that the motivation for Gomez’s phone number change is the Instagram war of words that she and Bieber had in mid-August. After Justin scolded his fans for their backlash against his relationship with then-girlfriend Sofia, Selena hopped into the argument and told him to stop sharing the photos of the two.
“It should be special between you two only,” Gomez informed him on his post.
Bieber subsequently accused Selena of cheating on him, hinting that she was unfaithful during their relationship with former One Direction member Zayn Malik.
“Selena lost it,” revealed the source.
“[Selena] can be fragile emotionally and Justin is a major factor.”
Since canceling her “Revival Tour” due to what Us describes as “lupus-related anxiety,” Gomez has been focusing on her emotional health. The “Kill ‘Em with Kindness” singer explained that her hiatus is intended to help her deal with panic attacks and depression, which she linked to lupus.
“I’ve discovered that anxiety, panic attacks and depression can be side effects of Lupus, which can present their own challenges,” Selena clarified in a statement.
However, a source told Radar Online that Selena is having issues beyond lupus .
“It is terrible that she has Lupus, but she is using this as an excuse for everything lately and the truth is that she is just a mess right now,” shared the insider. “She has been feeling completely alone lately.”
Moreover, Radar reported that the murder of Christina Grimmie, who was a close friend of Selena’s, added to Gomez’s other issues and caused her to go spiraling into alleged drug abuse. The source claims that Selena had been using “Lunesta, Ambien, Klonopin, and Xanax” prior to an alleged intervention that resulted in checking her into rehab.
Despite all this drama in his former girlfriend’s life, the Biebs isn’t planning on allowing Gomez’s situation to affect him, an insider told Life & Style .
After that highly publicized war of words on Instagram, Bieber is putting their relationship behind him, revealed the source. And although Selena, as noted above, reportedly has changed her phone number to prevent him from trying to contact her, this source says that Justin has “refused to call his ex-girlfriend.”
Instead, Bieber is seeking to focus on the positive aspects of his life by devoting his free time to family.
Earlier this month, Justin enjoyed some time with his 8-year-old sister Jazmyn at the American Girl Place in Los Angeles. The 22-year-old “Sorry” Singer also devote time to his father, Jeremy, during a tour stop in Munich, Germany.
As for what Selena’s friends think about the situation, an insider revealed to Life & Style that rather than being upset that Bieber isn’t rushing to be with his former girlfriend to show he cares, Gomez’s buddies are happy that he has been avoiding her.
“He’s moved on,” pointed out the source. “She needs to accept that.”
