Why Donald Trump ‘Terror Video’ May Give GOP Frontrunner A Boost

The “Trump terror video” making its ways around the Internet has an Islamist terrorist organization utilizing Donald Trump as a terror recruiting tool.

When news broke of it around New Year’s Day, there was a sense, at least in some left-leaning news sites, that it could be the smoking gun to finally derail Trump’s campaign.

That’s part of why you started seeing many trending searches like “Trump terror video” and “Trump ISIS video.”

However, rather than being a campaign ender, this video could actually end up helping Donald Trump in both the Republican primary and the general election.

Here’s why.

Trump’s supporters are drawn to him for two core reasons.

First, he doesn’t answer to anyone.

Donald Trump is funding his campaign independently. He even claims that he’s turned down millions in donations because he wants to take money out of politics.

That kind of ability gives him a lot more legitimacy as a candidate in right- and center-leaning circles in spite of (and perhaps regardless) some of the things that he says.

There is a certain type of voter out there, who is fully aware that Trump can be a bit of a blowhard and showman, but who plan on voting for him anyway because they know that they’re getting the showman and not the leader. As a leader, they have confidence in him even if they may not agree with everything he says.

Secondly, he has branded himself as the candidate against political correctness.

The “Trump terror video” will not sink Donald Trump, and it will probably help him because it plays into the type of character that he is.

Even though sites like Salon have called the war against political correctness “phony” and dismissed it, Trump is clearly striking a cord with people who are fed up at the idea that they have to watch what they say at all times, apologize for offending anyone, and change their beliefs in order to mold to majority opinion.

The country is far too divided at this point for any majority to ever be a strong one, and Trump’s ranting against political correctness sucks in more voters from the center than Democrats would care to believe.

To these people, the idea of ISIS or any other terrorist organization creating a “Trump terror video” in order to recruit more Muslims to their cause is something the candidate should wear as a badge of honor.

The outlook, whether right or wrong, is this: “we’re not changing to make you more comfortable; you conform to our way of life; obey our laws and live by our standards of justice; and if you don’t, if you want to attack that, be prepared to reap the consequences.”

It’s a very 1980s Rambo way of looking at things that “the Donald” has tapped in to, and it’s made him the most formidable candidate on either side of the political spectrum, if this new poll is to be believed.

So to conclude, they can make all the “Trump terror video” recruitment campaigns they want, but Donald Trump is not changing Donald Trump. He will keep saying things that might sink another candidate, and people will love him for it.

That’s because he really does believe the things that he says, and rather than offering up phony apologies when it offends someone, he digs in his heels and doubles down. Doing that with consistency and being able to back it up through self-funding his campaign has shone a light on the fractured state of politicians in both parties.

And whether people agree with everything he says or not, there is a much better chance of them voting him into the White House today than there was in 2012. Think about that for a moment.

Do you think the “Trump terror video” will help or hurt Donald Trump in the general election? Sound off in the comments section.
