Wells Adams Says ‘Bachelor In Paradise’ Is A More Realistic Way To Find A Girlfriend Than ‘The Bachelorette’

Wells Adams is headed to that summer camp called Bachelor in Paradise . JoJo Fletcher’s Bachelorette castoff says he was really looking for love when he signed on to the ABC franchise. And while the 31-year-old Nashville radio host’s first go around didn’t pan out, Wells Adams told Refinery 29 that the summertime spinoff is a more realistic way to find love than The Bachelor or The Bachelorette .

“Even though it’s a tongue-in-cheek show, it’s a much more realistic way of finding a girlfriend than The Bachelorette is,” Adams told the lifestyle site.

“It’s kind of like camp, where you meet everyone and decide who you want to date, whereas on The Bachelorette , it’s all these guys and one girl. I saw it as a more viable way to go about a relationship on a television show.”

In an interview with the Observer, Wells said dating in the real world hasn’t worked out for him , so he signed on to The Bachelorette because he was looking for an adventure.

“I realized it was ridiculous to think you would fall in love on a television show, but the traditional forms of dating weren’t working, so I figured why not give this a shot. “Wells revealed. “I’d rather fall in love on a TV show than fall in love from like, a Tinder account.”

Still, the way The Bachelorette is set up, the odds were not in his favor. But that’s not the case on Paradise , where multiple couples pair up due to a revolving door of past franchise stars who are in and out every few days.

Wells also said that while there is a lot of alcohol flowing in Paradise (Jorge the bartender is a regular cast member on the show), the dates are all about making a connection. Adams said there’s a lot more downtime on The Bachelorette than on Bachelor in Paradise , and if you’re on a date, you’re not really drinking. (Except if you’re on the Booze Cruise, that is.)

In a second Refinery 29 i nterview, Wells Adams revealed that he signed on to Paradise because he had a few regrets over how he came off on The Bachelorette . Adams famously shied away from kissing Fletcher, and by the time they shared their first smooch, it was too little, too late.

“There were some cards left on the table after The Bachelorette . I wouldn’t go back and change anything, but I wish I had been more passionate and I wish I hadn’t squandered the vital moments I had with JoJo,” Adams said.

“I think that, though Bachelor in Paradise is kind of silly, it does offer a little bit of redemption… I wanted the opportunity to find a girlfriend. I was a little bummed that I got in my own way on Bachelorette . I was super, super skeptical and that hindered me. I wanted to go into Paradise with a much more open mind. I saw it as a more viable way to go about a relationship on a television show.”

Wells also said he didn’t think it was cool that JoJo perceived him as “unromantic” when he told her that he and his girlfriend of four years made the conscious decision to “uncouple.” “She perceived it as me not being romantic, that I wasn’t passionate,” Adams said. “I hated that.”

“It was okay for one of these guys to have broken up with his girlfriend to go on a television show, or to cheat right before, but being cool and mature enough to say, ‘Maybe this isn’t perfect for us,’ makes me unromantic? I hated that. I thought that was BS.”

While Wells is just now starting his Bachelor in Paradise stint, fans don’t have to read the spoilers to know that he didn’t walk away with a lasting love. Adams told Refinery 29 that he’s “very much single right now,” and he’s just waiting out this 15 minutes of fame thing.
