Football fans can watch the Brazil vs. Ecuador match live online and see if the momentum from Brazil’s first Olympic gold medal ever can rub off on the senior team.

Brazil’s national team plowed through the tournament in Rio last month, cruising to its first ever gold medal with Neymar playing the hero in the gold medal match. Though there is little crossover between the Under-23 roster for the Olympics and the team that will take the field in Thursday’s World Cup qualifying match, the momentum could still be there.

And it will help that Neymar, the hero of the Rio Olympics, will be back on the pitch for the Selecao.

The teams will meet Thursday in Quito, Ecuador, with the the start time scheduled for 5 p.m. ET. The game will be broadcast on BeIN Sports in the United States and on many different broadcast partners globally, with streaming video also available for those unable to make it to a television (a link to the streaming video can be found below).

Those who watch the Brazil vs. Ecuador football match live online could actually see a Brazilian team in need of a boost. They have stumbled a bit in CONMEBOL group play, while Ecuador is tied atop the qualifying table with Uruguay, each with 13 points.

As SB Nation noted, Brazil could use a strong performance in Thursday’s match to get back on pace for World Cup qualifying.

Brazil are on nine points, not that far off the pace, but have won only twice in qualifying so far. They need to vastly improve on how they’ve played, because their sixth-place standing in the CONMEBOL table would not have them earn a place in the 2018 World Cup. That is obviously unacceptable for Brazil fans, so a win here against a hot team like Ecuador would be a big, big step in the right direction.

With so much on the line in Thursday’s match, Brazilian coach Tite has been trying to get his players up to speed quickly. He only arrived in June, taking over for Dunga after the Brazilian team failed to advance in the Copa America tournament.

Tite has sent clips to players showing his style and is determined to keep things simple against Ecuador, BeIN Sports reported.

“It is not the time to put on a spectacle, it is time to play and win,” said Casemiro. “We have to think game to game, first of three points on Thursday, and then of Colombia.”

But it could still be a bit of a learning curve for the Brazilian team, and Casemiro said his teammates have been working hard to get on the same page with Tite’s approach.

“Before we came here, he had already sent a video to us. It’s no secret,” Casemiro said. “Now, speaking with him, you understand better what he is asking, but it is important we arrived here already with the philosophy that he wanted.”

But there is plenty of worry among Brazil’s fans that they may not even reach the World Cup 2018. A recent poll from SporTV found that 54 percent of the team’s fans did not believe they would advance to play in the world’s largest football tournament.

The Selecao will certainly have some work to do if they want to avoid that dire prediction. The team currently sits in sixth place out of 10 teams, with the top four automatically qualifying and the fifth getting a chance to play their way in.
