With only two episodes left for the first half of Season 4 of History Channel’s Vikings, could this be the episode in which Erlendur finally gets his wish of seeing Bjorn Ironside killed?
SPOILER ALERT: This article contains information on Season 4 of History Channel’s Vikings. Please proceed with caution if you wish to avoid spoilers.
The official synopsis for Episode 9 is as follows.
“The labors of the Vikings eventually bear fruit as, within sight of Paris, they re-launch their boats but this time along with some interesting structures that Floki has made. Aethelwulf and Alfred eventually arrive in Rome and honors are conferred by Pope Leo but relations are not so cordial in Wessex between King Ecbert and the disgruntled King Aelle.”
Nothing has been mentioned in the official synopsis for Episode 9 of Vikings about Bjorn. However, with Erlendur (Edvin Endre) recently reminding his ex-wife, Torvi (Georgia Hirst) that he holds her son hostage and she will have to eventually kill Bjorn Ironside (Alexander Ludwig) in order for her son to live, it seems only time until Erlendur asks Torvi to complete this terrible task in earnest. Especially considering the recent fantasies she has been having where Erlendur kills Bjorn with his crossbow.
But then, Bjorn turned up at Hedeby in Season 4 and offered to take on Torvi as his wife, finally giving her the choice to chose her own husband. She did accept his offer but had to leave her son, Guthum, behind in Hedeby. Bjorn’s mother, Lagertha (Katheryn Winnick) agreed to protect Torvi’s son.
With only two episodes left for the first half of Season 4 of Vikings, now seems as good a time as any for History Channel to bring this battle to the fore. Especially considering Episode 10, the mid-season finale, appears to deal with the fierce battle between Bjorn’s father, Ragnar (Travis Fimmel) and Bjorn’s uncle, Rollo (Clive Standen). If Torvi really does kill Bjorn in Episode 9, that would leave Ragnar with absolutely nothing left to lose. His grief might be just the momentum he needs to attack his traitorous brother.
Or perhaps this Tumblr fan will finally get their wish?
The official synopsis for the mid-season finale for Season 4 of Vikings is as follows.
“A ferocious battle between the Vikings and the French eventually comes down to Ragnar against Rollo and the outcome seals the fates of the two brothers.”
Season 4 of Vikings returns to History Channel with Episode 9, entitled “Death All ‘Round” on Thursday, April 14, at 10 p.m. ET.
