Fresh from its success with the excellent Red Dead Redemption , Rockstar is moving forwards in time again to the 1940s to bring us L.A. Noire .
If this first trailer (built using in-game visuals only) of the detective thriller is anything to go by, we could have an early Game of 2011 candidate on our hands.
I don’t think I’ve ever seen facial animation done so well in a game; it’s actually spookily good. Rockstar has talked before about how L.A. Noire ‘s “groundbreaking performance capture technology” can recreate “every subtlety and nuance of an actor’s facial expressions and emotions” … and I believe them:
