Victoria Repine, a pregnant, 19-year-old employee of the Independence Wendy’s off of U.S. Highway 40 in Missouri, is now recovering after being severely beaten by two customers over drinking straws.

According to KSHB, the incident occurred at approximately 2 p.m. on Sunday. Heather Salcedo, Victoria’s mother, said her daughter, who is three months pregnant, had been working the drive-thru window that day. Repine reportedly had handed the customers their order, but they became furious because they thought she forgot to give them the straws for their drinks.

The customers pulled over, and one of them stepped out of the vehicle and approached the drive-thru window. Victoria then opened it to ask them what was wrong.

“She opened the window to ask her, ‘Can I help you?’ She said, ‘You didn’t give us any f’n straws,’” Heather said.

A few moments later, Repine was pulled through the drive-thru window and was then kicked and punched multiple times by at least three customers.

“One of the girls had gotten out of the vehicle and was standing at the window with her arms crossed, and she said, ‘You forgot to give us our straws.’ “(My daughter) said, ‘Ma’am they’re in your sack,’” Salcedo added to Fox 2 Now . “Before she could get those words completely out, the girl was pulling her out of the window , and another girl was beating her up.”

“As soon as she fell on the ground, they started kicking her and punching her, and there was a third person in the back, that was a male, and he came around and started punching and kicking her as well,” Heather continued. “It was horrible, no parent should ever get a call like that… ever.”

The injuries Repine sustained were enough to send her to the emergency room at a local hospital. Not only does Victoria have a 1-year-old child, she is also 3 months pregnant with her second child. Salcedo said an ultrasound was performed and the baby seemed to be doing fine.

“She has two black eyes,” Salcedo said of her daughter’s injuries. “She has cuts and scrapes on her arm and her knees. She also has bruising.”

Victoria is still recovering at the hospital, but says she is anxious to get better and return to work. She has said she isn’t going to let what happened to her keep her from doing her job, and she won’t live in fear.

“She said, ‘I’m not going to let this deter me from going back to work. I’m not going to let them know they won, because they didn’t,’” Salcedo said.

As of Monday evening, the Independence police still have not released a sketch of suspects. The Independence Wendy’s said they are aware of the incident and the corporate office is working on getting the surveillance video to the police. Wendy’s also issued a statement regarding what took place on Sunday.

“We are shocked and saddened over what happened Sunday afternoon at our 40 Highway restaurant,” Wendy’s said. “Our thoughts and prayers are with our restaurant team member. We are cooperating fully with local law enforcement authorities and their investigation. We cannot provide additional details at this time because we do not want to jeopardize their investigation. We are working with our team to help them get through this difficult situation.”
