Vanilla Ice Criticizes ‘Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles’ Rap: Missing the ‘True Ninja’s Secret Sound’

Vanilla Ice has criticized the new rap single for the upcoming Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles reboot film.

Ice, who was born Rob Van Winkle, infamously sang the “Ninja Rap” for 1991’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II: The Secret Of The Ooze , and he clearly isn’t a fan of Wiz Khalifa, Juicy J, and Ty Dolla $ign’s “Shell Shocked,” which will feature in Jonathan Liebesman’s upcoming adventure.

Talking to GQ , Van Winkle declared, “With respect to all of the artists, the song doesn’t really do it for me. It feels a little artificial — what I mean by that is that it sounds like a bunch of executive in the corporate world put it together. It really does not fit the theme of the Ninja Turtle legend.”

The reality television star then bizarrely explained, “I think you have to understand, and be a true Ninja, to possess the Magic to really pull off the secret sound.”

Ice even made an appearance during the The Secret Of The Ooze , performing a freestyle ninja rap song as the turtles did battle with Tokka and Rahzar at a club that he was performing in.

As The Inquisitr reported last month, the new rap single for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles features the talents of Juicy J, Wiz Khalifa, and Ty Dolla $ign, and it also possesses the lyric, “Knock knock, you about to get shell shocked.”

Meanwhile, Megan Fox, who will play April O’Neil in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles , has hit back of critics of Michael Bay. The Transformers director produced the upcoming adaptation of the beloved animated television series, and Fox was quick to point out that despite all of his detractors, Bay’s films constantly gross hundreds of millions of dollars at the box office.

After being asked what she thought of the backlash to the film, which was mostly because of Bay’s involvement and changes to the source material, Fox erupted, “Let me tell you something about those people; how much money did ‘Transformers 4’ make? Exactly. Those people can complain. They all go to the theater. They’re gonna love it and if they don’t love it, they can f*** off. And that’s the end of that.”

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles has already been mired in controversy after a poster for the film’s Australian release, which is on 9/11, showed the turtles jumping from an exploding New York skyscraper. This caused Paramount to release an apology.
