Some new information has leaked regarding the Samsung Galaxy S7. The phone is going to have a very similar exterior design to its predecessor, the Galaxy S6, and it will continue to have the glass surrounding the handset. According to Forbe’s Gordon Kelly, these are signals pointing to bad news for Samsung users.
“Instead where the Galaxy S6’s problems lie for me (and seemingly for many others based on comments I’ve received) are the “surface” changes Samsung made. There is widespread appreciation for the fact Samsung stepped up the build quality of the phone, but not that it introduced an impractical glass back which long-term testing found was slippy when your hands are cold and sticky when warm. It also meant Samsung had to kill off its beloved expandable storage and removable battery. There remains hope microSD may be reintroduced by being squeezed into the sim card tray, but even then brand new evidence suggests against it…”
According to the Korea Times, changes to the Samsung Galaxy S7 will take place on the interior with less focus being put on its exterior design, which will get a “little overhaul.” Samsung users will see improvements made to the device’s performance and picture quality, as well as additional features. A new magnesium-based alloy chassis might be applied to the S7, in order to make it even stronger and more durable, according to inews24.com. With the glass panel, Samsung may be searching for a new type of glass called Turtle Glass. Corning’s Gorilla Glass is currently being used on the Samsung Galaxy S6 as well as several other high-end smartphones.
The Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge look to be launching a bit earlier than April, which is when it usually drops. There seems to be a rumor that Samsung will shift the new phone’s launch date to January, 2016 instead of April. Meanwhile, the Samsung Galaxy Note 5 has just been confirmed to launch in January of 2016 in Europe. Galaxy Note users in the U.K. will be happy to know that the Galaxy Note 5 is going to be updated to the most recent Android OS version, right before the launch. Samsung has not yet made an official statement on the U.K, release, nor have the exact release dates or pricing details been announced. The Samsung Galaxy Note 5 is built with a 5.7-inch display that has a resolution of 2,560 x 1,440 pixels. The mobile device will run on an Exynos 7420 chipset and will hold 4 GB of RAM as well as 32 GB of internal storage.
