Eat, Sleep, Play’s reboot of the classic Twisted Metal franchise was originally due out on PlayStation 3 this October, but it looks like the title will miss that date by a few months.
David Jaffe of Eat, Sleep, Play took to the PlayStation Blog earlier today to announce that the title has slipped from its intended release date and is now expected to ship out out sometime in the early portion of 2012.
The reason for the delay, Jaffe explains, is to polish up the studio’s “demented baby” to make the reboot the best that it can be.
“Anyway – it sucks bad when games miss their announced launch dates. We’re gamers too and we know how annoying it is. It’s disappointing and frustrating and it really takes the wind out of your sails if you’re a fan that has been looking forward to playing a title for a long time. Thing is, you gotta trust me when I tell you that – with this extra time for tuning and polish – the game is going to be so much better than it already is. And if you played Twisted Metal and liked it at E3 or Comic-Con, or if you get to play it (and you enjoy it) at one of the August shows, just imagine how much more fun the final game will be with some extra time, polish, and love.”
Jaffe did have some good news to go along with the bad, though. The team is hard at work on finalizing a build they’ll be displaying at Gamescom and PAX Prime later this month, so if you had plans to attend either event you’ll be able to check out an all-new build of Twisted Metal .
