Trump Ally who is known for her political conspiracy theories, Tina Peters, made a controversial statement about Democrats and the upcoming 2026 midterm elections. She believes that the Democrats will cheat in the elections. Peters revealed this on Steve Bannon’s War Room podcast without any specific reason or proof to back her claims.

She said, “I see these elections that are taking place in real time: the Mamdanis, the Virginia governor – Spanberger — and then what’s going on in California, Texas, and Maine — just all over the country.”

The 70-year-old conspiracy theorist continued, “And I know that the Democrats are going to cheat, and no one’s really addressing the problem that I spent my time in prison as retribution for, and that was exposing the election machines that allow the votes to be flipped.” Meanwhile, Trump claimed Democrats might steal elections from him with mail-in voting.

Peters was released from state prison on June 1. The former Mesa County clerk was convicted for her role in causing a security breach in her county’s elections. She snuck an election denier into the Mesa County elections office to copy the hard drive from the voting system. She made people belive that the machines were manipulated in a certian way to defeat Trump.

She spent 19 months in state prison before her nine-year sentence was cut in half. Governor Jared Polis granted her clemency. According to Colorado Sun, her parole prohibits her from leaving the state without permission. She was sentenced to nine years in 2024 but given clemency on May 15.

Later on, her claims were connected to Joe Biden winning against Donald Trump by rigging the elections. As a Trump ally, Trump has supported Peters and had a role in pressuring Polis to give her clemency. Trump could not pardon her himself as he did not have authority over state law.

Polis called her sentence unusual and lengthy. He noted she was a first-time non-violent offender and used that to justify cutting her sentence short. On the other hand, this has caused a massive backlash. After her release, Colorado Attorney General Phil Weiser released a statement condemning her. He vowed to fight against the overturning of her conviction in the court.

The statement read, “Tina Peters may be free from prison, but she isn’t free from the crimes she committed, tampering with her county’s election equipment. She is a convicted felon, and I remain concerned about her conduct upon returning to Mesa County, given her lack of remorse for her crimes.”

In addition, Colorado Secretary of State Jena Griswold called it a “dangerous message” when it comes to accountability and an attack on fair elections. “Tina Peters is guilty as sin and a disgrace to Colorado,“ said Senator John Hickenlooper.
