Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers have issued a $7,500 reward for anyone who can find and return five guitars to the band after they were stolen from the groups Los Angeles-area studio last week. The reward comes just as Tom Petty and his bandmates prepare to head out on their U.S. and European tour.
On the bands website a list of the groups instruments were posted, those stolen instruments include Petty’s 1967 12-string blonde Rickenbacker 360 and his 1965 Gibson SGTV Junior.
Also stolen were instruments belonging to bassist Ron Blair and a rhythm guitar that belongs to Scott Thurston along with a guitar owned by Mike Campbell.
According to the group the $7,500 reward will be offered with “no questions asked to anyone with information leading to the recovery of the guitars.”
The band would like to recover the guitars as quickly as possible, preferably before Wednesday night when the Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers launch their U.S. tour in Broomfield, Colorado.
Police are currently investigating the theft of the instruments and will follow up on any leads provided to them.
