NBC’s The Voice is most definitely back! One only has to take a look at the ratings over the past couple of weeks to know. When it comes to competitors, The Voice has put a noticeable dent in their viewership since its return.

According to USA Today , the Nielsen ratings for the popular singing competition were among the highest of all shows in its two-hour time slot. The Voice earned a whopping 14 million views, but it was bested by two CBS hits – The Big Bang Theory and NCIS .

The Voice improved on Tuesday to 15 million and a 4.1 rating. The fact that the show is up five percent over its debut week is a good sign. However, there is a mild cause for alarm.

While it’s true that The Voice returned strong, it’s noted that the show is down from its 15.9 million Season 7 debut.

Are fans still hurting over the outcome of the previous season of The Voice ? There were a few threatening to “never watch again” after Team Blake hopeful Craig Wayne Boyd was crowned the winner. Even if that turns out to be true, The Voice has enough viewers to power through yet another successful run.

Part of what makes the show so fun to watch for fans are the Voice judges Adam Levine, Pharrell Williams, Christina Aguilera, and Blake Shelton. There was some concern that Aguilera wouldn’t fit in with the other coaches thanks to a lengthy absence from the show.

After taking time to focus on her family and new baby, the diva seems ready to give it all she’s got on Season 8 of The Voice . Although things didn’t go quite as Williams hoped during his debut as a Voice mentor, it is possible that learning from his experience may make things may go better this time around for the “Happy” singer.

Then of course there is the constant banter and bromance between Adam and Blake, who one Voice hopeful compared to Tom & Jerry . Seeing these top musicians interact and compete to build the best teams seems to be a highly entertaining affair. Although there’s been concerns in the past about the show not doing enough to generate stars, it seems that The Voice is more focused on being a source of musical entertainment.

Are you glad to see The Voice is doing well? Do you think the high ratings will hold through the season?
