The release of Newcrest, the new world for The Sims 4 , is still four days away, but that hasn’t stopped a flurry of activity among fans of the long-running life simulation franchise.
As previously reported by the Inquisitr , EA Games and the developers of The Sims 4 will release a free world to owners of The Sims 4 . The world, named Newcrest, will address a long-standing player complaint which has plagued The Sims 4 since it’s September, 2014, release. Originally, The Sims 4 shipped with two worlds. Each world had a limited number of empty lots on which players could construct custom housing for their characters. Unlike previous games, The Sims 4 had no option to add empty spaces, so once the limited empty lots ran out, players had to bulldoze other homes to make room.
Newcrest will change that in no small part because it will be the first empty world of The Sims 4 era.
Designers and creators of custom content for The Sims 4 have flooded the Gallery and Twitter with lots to fill Newcrest.

Meanwhile, news emerged early Sunday morning that could signal bigger things for The Sims 4 are on the horizon. According to The Sims 4 fan site, SimsVIP, EA Canada will host a play test in Burnaby for a limited number of The Sims 4 fans.

The lucky players selected for the play test will get bragging rights and a free EA Game of their choice. The news touched off a flurry of speculation among fans of The Sims 4 . Some fans hold out hope that the play test will finally herald the introduction of toddlers to The Sims 4.
“So you may or may not have heard but The Sims team have invited fans out to play test some form of new game or update for the sims, whether that’s the sims 4 or something totally new its BIG! The play test comes before gamescom and they want fan feedback so maybe it is something they want to perfect before gamescom maybe, dare I even say… Toddlers? What do you think it is?”
Others think it may be a Create-A-World feature, based on the fact that the play test coincides with the release of Newcrest.
“I seriously doubt that it’s toddlers. I’m hoping for a CAW like program or some other world editor.”
Still others think it may the a console version of The Sims 4 .
Whatever EA Games has in store for players on June 11, it may be the last information eager fans of The Sims 4 get for awhile. EA Games recently announced that The Sims 4 will not be featured at the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) in 2015. Meaning bombshell announcements will have to wait until Gamescon in August.
