Jennifer Lawrence is reportedly in talks to star in the film adaptation of “The Glass Castle,” a memoir about gossip columnist Jeanette Walls.

The memoir rights were recently purchased by Lionsgate, who has also put out movies like Saw and Hotel Rwanda , a film about the Genocide in the African country.

Jennifer Lawrence recently starred in The Hunger Games, along with horror film The House at the End of the Street . She is also acting along side Robert DeNiro and Bradley Cooper in The Silver Linings Playbook.

The Jeanette Walls memoir “The Glass Castle” was published in 2005, and spent more than 250 weeks on the New York Times bestseller list. It currently holds the record there as the longest standing memoir on the bestseller list.

According to Walls, the book chronicles her childhood, recalling on her experiences growing up with three siblings in what she calls a “dysfunctional but vibrant” family.

Other names now associated with The Glass House movie are Gil Netter ( The Blindside and Life of Pi director), who will reportedly produce the film and Marti Noxon, who is rumored to be the screenplay author. The story line that Walls portrays is about her father, a struggling alcoholic, and her mother and artist who painted and wrote.

Walls tells how her family traveled across the Arizona desert with her father teaching the children how to embrace life and use their imaginations. Her mother, on the other hand, preferred to paint or write instead of taking care of Wells and her siblings. Eventually when they ran out of money, the family moved to West Virginia, where her father drank heavily and became a thief, and her siblings were left on their own.

While the story is not a heart warming one, Jeanette Walls believes that her crazy family dynamic contributed to her success today. The Glass Castle movie is sure to be a change for Lionsgate, who usually produces movies with a strong male-lead.
