The Flash returns tonight on The CW after CBS aired their Supergirl / Flash crossover episode on Monday night. It turned out to be one of the better episodes of the season, with Grant Gustin’s Barry Allen/Flash providing plenty of humor and fun in National City, bringing in 7.24 million total viewers, according to TV Line.

Possible spoilers for The Flash up ahead!
This Tuesday’s episode of The Flash, “Flash Back,” airing March 29, won’t really be dealing with repercussions from Supergirl ‘s “Worlds Finest” episode. As it turns out, “Flash Back” will hint at how Barry Allen jumps to an alternate reality and finds himself in National City. So it looks like they will address the Supergirl crossover in next week’s episode while this week’s episode apparently focuses on Barry traveling back in time.
“Barry becomes determined to get back to Earth-2 to stop Zoom, but he realizes he needs to increase his speed,” according to the synopsis for “Flash Back.” He travels back in time and masquerades as his earlier self to get his arch-nemesis Dr. Harrison to teach him how to run faster. But while there, Barry faces familiar foe Hartley Rathaway and old friend Eddie Thawne.”
So there’s quite a lot to take in here with this episode synopsis. One noticeable detail is that Flash will be wearing his old Season 1 costume, and we finally get to see the return of Rick Cosnett/Eddie Thawne.
In a clip from tonight’s episode, Barry tells Cisco and Caitlin his plan to go back in time and they, naturally, think it’s a bad idea – along with Earth-2 Harrison Wells. Earth-2 Wells assures Barry that Wells/Thawne will be smart enough to know Barry has come from the future. Again, the issue of the timeline being altered is brought up. And sure enough, it looks as if that’s exactly what’s going to happen – when Wells/Thawne realizes he’s actually talking to future-Barry.

Comic Book Resources obtained an exclusive clip, with future-Flash meeting past-Flash. It’s a pretty fantastic sequence as both Flash’s come face-to-face.
Meanwhile, the DCEU version of The Flash, played by Ezra Miller, will also be doing some time traveling, and possibly jumping to alternate realities. It was widely acknowledged that Miller would be appearing in Zack Snyder’s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, and if you’ve seen the movie, you know how he appears and what role he plays. Miller told MTV in an interview last summer that he’s been doing plenty of research reading a whole bunch of Flash comics and is also a fan of Grant Gustin and The CW show.
“I think The Flash tv show is awesome. And come on, we’re The Flash! It’s parallel universes! Grant Gustin is The Flash and I’m The Flash! Grant and I are chilling, we’re gonna have a race! It’s gonna be dope! Like Jay Garrick and Barry Allen back in the day, it’s gonna be dope.”
Keeping the movie universe and the television universe is a decision that has upset some fans, as they wanted to see Gustin’s Flash on the big screen. Grant’s already expressed his excitement to see what Ezra Miller will do with the character. He is a pretty fantastic actor, he has been bulking up for the role, and watching him excitedly discuss the character is reassuring.
“I’ve been a comic guy, but I’m going in as hard as possible,” Miller went on to say. “Because I have a serious excuse to. I have the ultimate license to geek out so hard all the time!”
