A Texas restaurant chain is warning its customers in no uncertain terms during the Christmas season that the premises are politically incorrect.
Known for its award-winning fish taco, Houston-based Berryhill Baja Grill posted a sign at each of its nine Texas venues that makes the restaurant’s intentions clear that it intends to resist arrest, figuratively speaking, by the PC police, and will fight back against the so-called war on Christmas.
The signage on the front door, which has gone viral on social media, reads as follows.
“Notice: This store is politically incorrect. We say Merry Christmas, God bless America. We salute our flag and give thanks to our troops, police officers and firefighters. If this offends you, you are welcome to leave. In God we trust.”
Berryhill CEO Jeff Anon, who happens to be Jewish, told ABC News that he was inspired to post the pro-Christmas, pro-America notice after a social media controversy emerged about the Starbucks red cups lacking any holiday adornments.
Anon’s son mentioned to his dad that businesses elsewhere in the U.S. were posting signs with similar language, so Anon decided to do the same, thereby advising patrons that each Berryhill eatery was politically incorrect territory.
“I just got tired of all the news of everybody having to be politically correct… There’s nothing wrong with saying ‘Merry Christmas’ in lieu of ‘Happy Holidays.’ When people say ‘Merry Christmas,’ they’re being nice. They’re not trying to be politically incorrect or have religious beliefs.”
The restaurants features both Christmas and Chanukah decorations during the holiday season. “I don’t think anybody means anything bad or mean when they say Merry Christmas, and I thought somebody had to stand up and say enough of this,” Anon declared.

Acknowledging that the response from around the country to the viral politically incorrect warning has been mostly favorable, Anon added that “We’re not trying to bring religion into the workplace. It has nothing to do with religion. It’s the spirit of the holidays.”
In a message on the company Facebook page, Berryhill Baja Grill expressed appreciation for the outpouring of support and, of course, concluded by wishing everyone a Merry Christmas.
“From the bottom of our hearts, thank you so much for supporting our stance. We at Berryhill never anticipated the overwhelming support we would receive from folks of many different backgrounds and religions. All we intended to do was let everyone know who we are as a company, but we sure are honored! We’re a locally owned business; we aren’t (and don’t want to be) a faceless, soul-less ‘corporation.’ Diversity is what makes our nation great! Nobody should be afraid to be who they are, or be afraid to express their [varied] beliefs. We Americans are all one people, who stand united even despite our many, many differences… Our hope is that one day people’s differences will spark conversations, not protests. We think a great place to start is a friendly exchange over a fish taco and a margarita!”
An Ohio store, Schuler’s Bakery, posted a sign with the same language in November, as apparently did many other establishments across the country.
In the Christmas season or at any other time of the year, would you be more likely or less likely to patronize a restaurant that abides by an equivalent politically incorrect policy as the one posted by Berryhill Baja Grill?
