A Texas dog gave a nasty surprise to its owners on Monday morning when the beloved pet bought home something really terrifying . How would you feel if you played fetch with your dog, and instead of getting back the ball you threw, it brings home a human skull? That’s somewhat similar to what happened with the owners of Carly the dog, reports Yahoo News . Carly is a golden Labrador retriever who lives near the Austin-Bergstrom International Airport with her owners, a middle aged couple.
On Monday morning, at around 8 a.m. local time, the dog who had the previous night managed to escape from the backyard of her owners home came back with “gift” in her mouth. Perhaps, she wanted to calm her owners down for her mischief and a gift was good bribe. However, her owners were petrified at the sight of the human skull in the dog’s mouth, and the police were called in immediately. Carly had also bought in other bones – believed to be of dead animals. Authorities still haven’t managed to ascertain the area that Carly traversed the entire night to home in on a location from where the dog got the human skull.
According to a report by the Austin-American Statesman , the police came in quickly and in the hope of finding the rest of the remains of the human skull, walked Carly around. However, they were not able to find anything significant. Authorities are now checking if the skull has a match with a number of missing people’s dental records. They have not been able to ascertain the age or the gender of the skull in question due to its poor condition.
The owners of the dog have requested privacy from the police and their identities are being kept a secret at this time.
All said, it is pertinent to note that this is the second time in as many weeks that a skull has been recovered. Last week, on August 27, a skull was donated by an unknown person to a Goodwill store at N.Lamar Blvd. Police are on the lookout for that person as well.
