Teen Mom star Gary Shirley, the father of Amber Portwood’s daughter, Leah Shirley, was recently caught breaking the law and making himself look like a real jerk.
According to Radar Online , Gary Shirley, the lovable and goofy dad from the Teen Mom franchise, was spotted out and about in his hometown in Indiana driving around with a disabled parking sign , sometimes referred to as a handicap sign, on his vehicle, but he has no disability.
“Neighbors have spotted the 27-year-old driving around his native Anderson, Indiana, with a handicap placard— but he has no known disability!”
Witnesses have also revealed that they’ve seen Gary using the handicapped sign in order to park in the handicapped spots closest to the facility he’s going to.
“He hopped out of his car and walked right into the store. He looked perfectly healthy!”
The witness also took a photo of Gary Shirley’s car with the handicapped sign clearly displayed in the Teen Mom star’s front window, hanging from the mirror.
DrivingLaws.org reports that in Indiana, to qualify for disable parking placard the driver needs to have “temporary or permanent physical disability that requires the use of a wheelchair, a walker, braces, or crutches; temporarily or permanently lost the use of one or both legs; restricted mobility, either temporarily or permanently, due to a pulmonary or cardiovascular disability, arthritic condition, or orthopedic or neurological impairment; or permanently blind or visually impaired.”
Newsflow reports that Gary Shirley and Amber Portwood have an ongoing custody battle looming, as they are currently sharing custody of their daughter Leah. However, Gary has had the upper hand in the custody arrangement since Amber decided to take a prison sentence over completing a community rehab program.
Since leaving prison, Amber has stayed clean and sober and has even found love again. The Teen Mom star is currently engaged to boyfriend Matt Baier. Meanwhile, Gary Shirley has moved on as well. Shirley, 27, has started his own line of condoms, complete with his face on the cover.
Gary also has a new love in his life. He and girlfriend Kristina have been dating for a couple of years now, and last April, the couple welcomed their first child together, a daughter named Emilee, whom Amber even visited while switching custody of little Leah with Gary.
While things seem to be going great for both Amber Portwood and Gary Shirley, it looks like the Teen Mom dad may want to rethink his use of the handicapped sign. People are obviously starting to notice it, and if Gary’s not really disabled — which he doesn’t seem to be at first sight — then more and more people will begin to notice and possibly even get the police involved.
