Is Ryan Edwards going to die from an alleged addiction to drugs?
Following a couple of seasons of rumors claiming the Teen Mom OG dad may be abusing drugs, Maci Bookout was seen chatting about his potential issues and her concerns for his health during a cast trip to Puerto Rico with her co-stars, Amber Portwood and Catelynn Lowell.
After Amber Portwood asked Maci Bookout how Ryan Edwards was doing, she responded , “He’s okay,” according to a report by People magazine on May 29.
“Ryan’s f***ed up,” Portwood noted. “I watch it, I see it, I know it… Where he’s at right now, when I see him, I know where he’s at and I’m like, ‘Wow, he needs some guidance.’”
As fans may recall, Portwood struggled with an addiction to drugs years ago and ultimately went to prison for 17 months after failing to complete a court-ordered drug rehabilitation program.
While Ryan Edwards has denied using drugs, despite a number of questionable moments on Teen Mom OG in the past year, the rumors have continued and last week, Maci Bookout was seen receiving a troublesome text message from a friend of her ex-boyfriend. From there, fans once again began to speculate upon Ryan Edwards’ alleged use of drugs and many expressed their concern for the reality dad on Twitter as the episode aired.
As the scene continued, Catelynn Lowell asked Maci Bookout if anyone close to Ryan Edwards had talked to him about the possibility of going to a treatment center.
“[Ryan Edwards] would do it. It’s everyone else around him that’s too afraid to admit it,” Bookout explained. “What I’m saying is that everyone else around him is too afraid of what it will look like more than his health. It’s all denial. They all know.”
According to Maci Bookout, Ryan Edwards, the father of her 8-year-old son Bentley, struggles with self-love, despite his steady relationship with fiancée Mackenzie Standifer, who he plans to marry later this year.
“Honestly, the hardest thing is for me to see Ryan not love himself because he is a person worth loving. He deserves to love himself,” Bookout explained. “I’m just sick of cleaning up his mess. I get tired of dealing with the s***. Just being the only one that f***ing sees everything and cares.”
Maci Bookout went on to explain to her Teen Mom OG co-stars that she actually fears Ryan Edwards could ultimately die due to his alleged drug use.
“I talk to Taylor about it like, ‘I wonder if today’s going to be the day that Ryan does something that he can’t come back from?’” she said.
Later on during the episode, Maci Bookout was seen talking to her husband, Taylor McKinney, about Ryan Edwards’ rumored troubles and her conversation with Catelynn Lowell and Amber Portwood about the issue.
“I’m just going to be like, ‘You have to go to rehab,’” she revealed of her plans to confront Ryan Edwards. “Right now is legitimately about saving his life.”
“Most nights I’m crying in our bed talking to you about whether or not today is the day that he’s going to die or when I’m going to do something about it or how I should do something about it. And you’ve always just been there for me,” she added.
