An elementary school teacher was indicted for having sexual relations with her teen student. Laura Caron could now face up to 30 years in jail for the sexual assault. The horrifying incident came to light when the father of the teen realized that Caron’s son looked like the teen.
Caron was first introduced to the victim at the Middle Township Elementary School. She taught him and his brother at the institution. The children’s family was on good terms with the teacher, enough for their parents to let their two sons and daughter stay over at Caron’s house.
The years of sexual assault that the 13-year-old victim suffered started at the former teacher’s house. The three siblings reportedly lived with the woman permanently for a few years between 2016 and 2020. According to authorities, “inappropriate sexual relations” between Caron and the child resulted in her getting pregnant.
During that time, all three siblings shared a room while they stayed with Caron, as per The New York Post. The victim’s sister later recalled how her brother would often sleep in the bedroom and wake up in Caron’s room. She also revealed that the teacher started sexually assaulting the boy when he was just 11 years old.
Years later, the boy, who is now 19 or 20, told his sister that he had fathered Caron’s son and asked her not to reveal the secret. The victim’s brother also told the authorities that he had seen their former teacher sexually assault his brother while he was asleep.

The disturbing details of the assault came forward when the victim’s father saw a picture of Caron’s child on Facebook. The father of three had a shocking realization that the child looked like his own son. He brought his suspicion to the attention of the cops.
Soon after, in January of this year, the former teacher was arrested and brought in for interrogation. After the shocking findings of the case, Caron was charged with aggravated sexual assault, sexual assault, and endangering the welfare of a child.
The woman was indicted last week and charged with aggravated sexual assault. She was also charged with endangering the welfare of a child. The former teacher could face 30 years in prison for the heinous crimes she has committed.

“These allegations are deeply disturbing, particularly given the position of trust the defendant held in relation to the victim,” Cape May County Prosecutor Jeffrey H. Sutherland shared.
The prosecutor also noted that the Cape May County Prosecutor’s office remains committed to protecting the “most vulnerable members” of the community. Sutherland also added that people who violate the trust will be aggressively investigated and prosecuted.
