Taylor Swift and Jennifer Lopez are putting together a song to appear on the latter’s upcoming album, set for release sometime next year.
“Both of them are huge fans of each other and excited to work together!” a source told Us Weekly.
Sounds kind of like a strange collaboration at first glance, but it’s not all that crazy. Taylor Swift, 22, has actually performed with 44-year-old Lopez once before. They sang a duet together during Swift’s recent concert at the Los Angeles Staples center on August 25 (video included above).
Awesomely, the two performed Lopez’ hit song “Jenny From the Block” together and had so much fun that they decided to go in together on a new track.
“Sang Jenny From the Block with @JLo tonight at Staples Center. STILL FANGIRLING OUT ABOUT IT,” Swift wrote on Twitter after the performance.
Lopez replied, “had so much fun with you tonight!!!” with a respectable amount of hashtags.
Lopez’ as-yet untitled eighth studio album has been called “very special” by producer RedOne, and we’ve already gotten a taste of what to expect from her lead single, “Live It Up.” Other than music, Lopez will indeed be returning to American Idol after a short hiatus. She will join returning judge Keith Urban and new judge Harry Connick Jr. at the dais.
Taylor Swift, meanwhile, is working on new music and has promised that her “Red” follow-up will be different from the other music she has released. “But I think it’s about to start to kick into full gear,” she said. “I’m about to go into the studio. It’s about to get really intense.”
