Taylor Swift and Calvin Harris have split up after 15 months of dating. What’s next for Taylor? An epic breakup album? Will she date again?

Many fans are devastated and surprised by the news of the split. Taylor and Calvin became public at the 2015 Billboard Music Awards. With so many romances that have ended in the public eye and successful albums to follow, many wonder if breakups are the only inspiration for Swifts’ albums.

Not really. Taylor Swift is a Grammy award-winning singer/songwriter whose interest in music began at the age of 9. A superstar phenomenon inspired by Shania Twain, Swift is said to be one of the only country stars to cross over from country and completely take over the mainstream. Naturally, her romances have become equally brought to attention.

Taylor told People, “You know, I went out on a normal amount of dates in my early 20s, and I got absolutely slaughtered for it…And it took a lot of hard work and altering my decision-making. I didn’t date for two and half years. Should I have had to do that? No.”

Although some may have viewed her relationship with Calvin as “one of many,” it wasn’t according to Swift.

After her 1989 tour, Swift told Vogue in April, “I’m just taking things as they come. I’m in a magical relationship right now. And of course I want it to be ours, and low-key … this is the one thing that’s been mine about my personal life.”

It’s pretty clear from her words and video for “Blank Space” that Taylor wants her relationships to last, so it’s safe to assume a Taylor Swift split isn’t the only fire behind her music. However, Taylor’s expectations of long relationships may not be the standard any longer. However, this breakup can prove to be even more profitable in producing an amazing album, and here’s why.

Swift is the quintessence of country pop, and putting her personal experience into her songs have made them relatable to women all over the world. Yet, many have criticized Taylor for using her breakups as material for her songs. Even if she draws from personal experience to fuel her songs, so what? That’s what makes them even more relatable and successful!

Swift made it clear that her album 1989 was made to be her first “documented, official” pop album. There was no country marketing push for this record. With three Grammys under her belt, including hits like “Mine” and “Mean,” it’s possible for Swift to return to her country roots, especially since Taylor has veered from her usual sound in her last two albums and into a more pop genre.

Fans are more interested in what comes after the Taylor Swift split. Many are eager for more songs similar to the one’s which appeared on Taylor Swift’s 2012 RED, which included “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together” and “I Knew You Were Trouble,” and 2015’s “Bad Blood” from album 1989.

Swift’s love of creating music and life experiences seem to be the inspiration for her music. Swift has still managed to stay true to her original country style on select songs. With roots still grounded in country but an edgy interest in music, not to mention an entire year of romance with DJ Calvin Harris ending in a high-profile separation, this, combined with her talent and genuine love of music, will give Taylor everything she needs to create an explosive album.

Many have said RED was Taylor’s best album to date — then again, each album gets better than the last. Taylor has managed to give her fans a taste of everything.

Many would assume the country powerhouse isn’t letting the breakup get to her, that the relationship will be “a kaleidoscope of memories.” The split from Calvin was heart wrenching for Taylor, 26, yet she retweeted Calvin’s public announcement of their breakup. Just one month ago, the couple publicly celebrated their one-year anniversary.

It seems Calvin doesn’t mind using the split from Taylor for attention and promotional purposes as he promotes his single, which features Rihanna, on Twitter.

“The only truth here is that a relationship came to an end & what remains is a huge amount of love and respect,” is a nice way to avoid adding insult to injury. Fans have noticed Taylor has already deleted a select few intimate photos of the couple’s happier times from Instagram. Multiple sources has lead the National Post to believe the split was not, in fact, amicable.

There’s no “Bad Blood” between Taylor and Calvin — as Calvin very publicly tweeted, though the couple has broken up, they will remain great friends.

A source close to Calvin reports to E! News, “Adam really liked Taylor, she was not the type of girl he ever dates and he liked that.”

“He liked how innocent Taylor was and that she had a good caring heart. Taylor’s heart was more in it than he was. He started to lose interest over the past few months, but really tried to not just break up.”

“They were just not very compatible in different areas in their relationship. The touring and traveling didn’t help. It seemed like they were more friends than lovers,” the insider told E! News.

“There were no other women involved with Adam. He did not cheat on her at all. Just not a good match. There was no drama,” the source continued.

The breakup comes one week after Calvin Harris was injured in a car crash, forcing him to cancel a ton of shows.
