TNT is bringing back one of the greatest horror series to ever grace the small screen, as Tales From The Crypt is going to return, and it’s due to M. Night Shyamalan. Yes, the hit HBO series is getting a reboot of sorts, and Shyamalan will be executive producing it. Fans hope it will have all the fun and fright that the original did, but it is now confirmed to have at least one change — a brand new Crypt Keeper.
Yes, the very popular character/puppet who was voiced by John Kassir will not be returning for this new version of Tales From The Crypt , according to Bloody-Disgusting .
M. Night Shyamalan has said that there is a big reason for the original Crypt Keeper not returning, and it isn’t necessarily due to his choices. It appears as if HBO owns the original puppet and he simply can’t be a part of the new show.
Still, the Crypt Keeper will appear, and Shyamalan promises fans will like him.

When news first broke of the reboot of Tales From The Crypt , rumors started flying that the original Crypt Keeper wouldn’t return, but now it has been confirmed. Needless to say, but this has upset a number of people, and even Kassir has chimed in on it.

There is no word on whether Kassir will head into the reboot as the voice of the new Crypt Keeper or not. Word has it that the new version of the Crypt Keeper could end up being more like the original from the comics.
That host was an old man who had a hood over his head, held a cane, and always sat by a fireplace to keep warm. He wouldn’t always sit by the fire, though, as he could end up in some odd situations, too.
Geek.compoints out that the original serieswas based on the EC horror comics from the ’50s and woven into episodes on HBO. There would be a new tale in each episode which would be wrapped up by the time the 30 minutes were up.
Next week, a new tale would be introduced, but things unfortunately won’t be that way in the reboot. This is where things take a rather unfortunate turn, according to Bloody-Disgusting‘s original report on the detailsof how the new show will happen.
While things could end up changing, it appears as if the original plan for the Tales From The Crypt reboot will consist of 13 episodes and filmed “ American Horror Story “-style. Also, it will have one main storyline per season and start over the next, if there is a next season, that is.
Yeah, so that means there will be no weekly tale at all.
Going on, the new Tales From The Crypt will be penned by the writers from Hemlock Grove , and Season 1 will have nothing to do with the comics at all. It is being reported that Season 1 will actually focus on New Orleans’ voodoo, just as American Horror Story and True Blood have already done.
In other words, don’t expect much similarity at all to the HBO version of Tales From The Crypt .
M. Night Shyamalan got a huge hit early on his career with The Sixth Sense,and went on to have some other big films before box office bomb after bomb. Now, he’s behind bringing back an entirely different Tales From The Cryptwith an all new Crypt Keeper, and fans have already lost a bit of hope in this reboot.
