There are die-hard Apple fans and then there’s Steve Wozniak. Having founded Apple Inc., with buddy Steve Jobs in 1976 Wozniak could easily request new Apple products and have them sent to his home, probably before their released to the general public. Instead Wozniak likes to wait outside for hours on end with every other Apple admiring fan.
The Apple co-founder was spotted in Los Angeles this week and when asked why he chooses to wait in line the Woz said:
“It’s become a ritual. I wanna be one of the real people, who line up and wait all night. … Apple’s just that important to us.”
Apple stores were opening at 8am in 10 countries today, much earlier than many of them typically open.
Wozniak only had to compete with about 4 other people at the Los Angeles location because he arrived so early to be first in line however other parts of the world have went Apple crazy with 200 people showing up at a store in Sydney, Australia while 450 were present at a Tokyo Apple store. Hundreds more lined up in London while Hong Kong saw dozens of new iPad buyers.
In the meantime we have to question why people wait in line for hours, sometimes even days to purchase a product that can literally be purchased online in a matter of seconds and then be delivered right to a persons home. Sure in some cases the devices sold out but let’s be honest, Apple fans are just that crazy sometimes.
