Mobile payment provider Square revealed its new customer loyalty program on Tuesday, a platform that allows Square providers to set programs in which their customers earn rewards for frequently shopping at various business locations.

Businesses can now distribute special virtual cards to shopping through the Pay with Square app for Android and iOS devices. During each visit a buyer earns a stamp which is auto loaded onto their rewards card, the more they visit and make purchases the more discounts and free goods they can earn.

The new system also allows first time customers to earn special rewards in order to entice continuing visits.

Square has also updated the Pay With Square issue to make it simple for users to find local businesses that accept Square payments.

Square also announced updates to the Square Register app for the iPad, using the program users can now break down items into categories and customize percent and dollar discounts for any offer. The in-app reporting feature also tracks sales trends which can be broken down by various time options.

Square offers all of its apps for free however businesses are charged a per transaction fee just as they are with traditional payment platforms from Visa, Mastercard, Discover and American Express.

According to Square spokesman Khobi Brooklyn:

“These features are what our merchants have been asking for and are what are needed to run a business, so I think we will see more Register adoption.”

Square was founded by Twitter co-founder Jack Dorsey and launched its first product in 2010.
