Modern Family star Sofia Vergara didn’t wait until later in life to start having children like many of Hollywood’s stars, she had her first child when she was just 19-years-old and recently she opened up to Redbook magazine about what it was like being a young mom.
When asked if she was ready to have more kids she responded:
“I don’t even want to think about it.”
She says that having a child at 19 wasn’t bad (Vergara was married at 18), since she had the energy to raise a kid.
“When I had Manolo, I was 19, and I had the energy for everything,” she said of having a baby young.
Vergara and her son are close to this day and even posed for a Got Milk? campaign in 2010, while Vergara says her son loves to tease her.
He humiliates me,” and “He doesn’t understand how my accent can get worse and worse. He says, ‘It’s not normal. Nobody does that.’ So when I got nominated for the Emmy [in 2010] I called him and said, ‘Right in your face! Even with my accent!’”
In the meantime Vergara is dealing with some family troubles after ICE removed her brother Julio from the country on May 9, 2011, according to an ICE statement regarding the deportation:
“ICE carried out Mr. Vergara’s removal on May 9, 2011 as mandated by law. His removal is consistent with ICE’s enforcement priorities of identifying and removing those who have committed crimes in the United States.”
Being a teen mom can be tough but Sofia Vargara had one advantage the kids of MTV’s ’16 and Pregnant did not have, she was married and ready for a child and apparently found it easier with all the teen energy she had, go figure.
