Skylar Diggins Puts Drake In The Friend Zone During ESPY Skit

Skylar Diggins has put Drake in the friend zone.

The rapper has been open about his crush on the WNBA star, and on Wednesday the two crossed paths at the ESPY awards. Drake wore a Skylar Diggins jersey for the skit and recited a poem he wrote called “Can I Dig In?”

He was then joined on stage by Skylar herself, who asked Drake what she could do to end his obsession with her. Drake responded that he wanted a kiss, to which she agreed to. But as Skylar moved in, she instead planted one right on Drake’s forehead.

Skylar Diggins and Drake actually have quite a history. The rapper is very openly fond of Diggins, and regularly posted pictures of the basketball star on his Instagram account.

The Instagram obsession caught the attention of Skylar’s boyfriend, Daniel Smith, who posted a picture of himself with Skyler and tagged Drake.

One of Drake’s friends, OB O’Brien, then jumped into the fray with a rant about the situation.

“It’s sexist and I won’t stand for it,” he said. “You wanna be verbal bullies to my dog, Champagne when the fact is he’s a fan of how she plays the game!… Is she an absolute top goddess draped in Dri-FIT? That’s for you to decide. We like the way she plays the game and she handles herself like a lady.”

As arguably the biggest name currently in the WNBA, Skylar Diggins has become known as much for her looks as her on-court prowess. She has modeled for Nike and appears at events with Jay Z and Beyonce (and is signed to his Roc Nation management agency).

Earlier this year she penned an essay for the New York Times Fashion & Style section detailing her fashion and fitness regimen. Skylar explained that keeping fit and looking great is a full-time endeavor.

“If I’m not on the court, I do high-intensity training, intervals, functional movement, strength and core,” she wrote. “And I have to eat clean: a lot of greens, fish and chicken. I do allow myself cheat meals. People ask about how to stay in shape, and it’s all about diet. That, and sleep. I’ll nap between shoot-around and game time. And I try to get six to eight hours every night.”

At least now her boyfriend can rest a little easier now that Skylar Diggins has put an end to Drake’s pursuit.
