Sirius XM To Begin Streaming NHL Games Online And Via Mobile

Sirius XM announced on Wednesday that it is bringing NHL hockey streaming coverage to its online and mobile phone app service. The new service will start with this years Stanley Cup playoffs and then continue into the next regular season, the NHL All-Star game and all postseason games.

In a statement regarding the move President/Chief Content Officer Scott Greenstein said:

“We’re very pleased to be able to deliver our subscribers every NHL game through the SIRIUS XM App and online in time for the playoffs.”

Greenstein then added:

“Our relationship with the NHL has enabled us to provide hockey fans with exceptional access to their favorite teams and everything happening around the league through their satellite radios. With fans now complementing their satellite radios with their handheld devices as a way to connect with their sport day to day as well, it is important to stream that unmatched content and give SIRIUS XM subscribers additional ways to access it.”

With the new offerings Sirius XM nhow offers radio, internet, smartphone and mobile device coverage of NHL games.

In his own announcement regarding the partnership NHL commissioner Gary Bettman noted:

“This represents another great step forward for the NHL and SIRIUS XM subscribers everywhere.”

Mobile apps have become all the rage for sports fans who can’t catch their favorite teams at home and have to rely instead on streaming services. Whether NHL fans will make the jump to Sirius XM in order to catch NHL games on the go only time will reveal.
