A horrifying story out of Moorhead, Minnesota, centers around a man who has allegedly been torturing his 2-month-old baby daughter because he was bothered by her crying. Shawn Foltz is accused of rubbing hot sauce into his daughter’s eyes and preventing her from breathing until she turned blue, among other horrendous acts of torture and abuse against the baby girl.
According to Twin Cities Pioneer Press , 31-year-old Shawn Michael Foltz admitted to police that he would spend the day at work thinking of twisted ways to torture his baby daughter due to his frustration with her crying.
Some of the things police learned after interviewing Shawn Foltz include him snapping his daughter’s face with a towel, using a wooden spoon and a piece of vinyl flooring to spank her, spraying her face with hot water, throwing firecrackers at the baby girl, and rubbing hot sauce and cayenne pepper into her eyes.
The abuse occurred between April 10, 2017 and May 30, 2017, on which date the baby girl’s mother brought her daughter to the Essentia Health emergency room where the little girl was discovered to have dark bruises over both eyes, red all over her back, and other bruising on her body. The mother of the girl told police on the scene that the baby had been in the care of her father in the evenings when she was at work.
The mother told police Shawn Foltz claimed his daughter’s injuries were the result of the couple’s 3-year-old son hitting the baby with a toy gun. Police were skeptical of the story and further questioned Foltz, at which point he admitted to abusing the girl and gave a detailed confession.
According to Fox 59 , Shawn Foltz is being charged with neglect of a child, malicious punishment of a child, and two counts of third-degree assault, all felonies. Foltz is currently being held in the Clay County Jail and bail has been set at $100,000.

Rex Tucker, the attorney representing Shawn Foltz, has not issued any statements about his client at this time.
It’s difficult to imagine what would compel someone to do something like this to any child, let alone one’s own infant daughter. Due to the sadistic nature of Foltz’s acts, he is likely to face harsh punishment for his crimes.
