Fox News host Sean Hannity recently discussed the aftermath of America’s strike on Venezuela, following which President Nicolas Maduro and his wife, Cilia Flores, were flown out of the capital city, Caracas, on January 3, 2025, to New York.

The surprise early morning strike called “Operation Absolute Resolve” prompted mixed global reactions. Long-time Trump ally Hannity began his monologue on Fox News’ YouTube stream, by talking about Maduro’s plight after being in American custody.

He then shed light on Iran’s political situation, noting that the country is experiencing its most intense wave of unrest in years.

Hannity noted how nationwide protests have grown increasingly bold amid an economic collapse driven by soaring inflation, which has sharply increased food prices and made everyday life increasingly unaffordable for many citizens.

As per Al Jazeera, the country’s government is allegedly desperate and has failed to control protesters who marched the streets. Meanwhile, Chief Justice Gholamhossein Mohseni-Ejei said, “We will show no mercy to rioters this time.”

Demonstrations have spread from Tehran to smaller cities, with shopkeepers at the Grand Bazar striking, hospitals raided by security forces, and live ammunition reportedly used against crowds. Multiple people were shot dead, and several others who suffered injures were rushed to the hospital.

Hannity said that the global shift in allies has also reshaped the course of diplomacy. China and Russia, who are known to be longtime backers of Iran and Venezuela, are confused and isolated as both countries have lost grip on themselves.

Venezuela’s loss of Nicolás Maduro deprives Moscow and Beijing of a key oil and geopolitical ally in the Western Hemisphere, while Iran’s internal turmoil limits its ability to project power regionally.

The U.S has blamed Maduro’s authoritarian rule for being corrupt and incompetent, and reports suggest that Donald Trump had advised him to step down weeks before he gave “Operation Absolute Resolve” a green signal.

On January 4, speaking aboard Air Force One, Donald Trump described Venezuela as a “sick” country in need of U.S. involvement.

Host Sean Hannity mentioned in his show that after the American takeover in Venezuelan, the era could be called “Donroe Doctrine” under which “Venezuelan oil will soon be flowing right here into the US and hopefully to the people of Venezuela.”

He also shared Trump‘s Truth Social announcement, where the President said that “Interim Authorities in Venezuela will be turning over 30 and 50 MILLION High Quality Sanctioned Oil to the United States of America.”

Hannity linked Iran’s protests, Venezuela’s collapse, and anxiety in Cuba as signs that things are volatile while portraying the moment as a turning point in U.S. foreign policy momentum.

He suggested Greenland could be the next target before lauding Donald Trump’s efforts for swift operation, which ended Maduro’s regime.

“Trump removed an illegitimate dictator and narco-terrorist, saving Americans in this country from the lethal drug trade that he was profiting off of,” the host said.

“He also eliminated a key ally of Russia, China, and Iran, took control over the largest oil reserves in the world, and is enriching both the people of Venezuela and the American people, who will benefit in the end as well,” he continued.

“So, despite the performative groans from the Democratic Party, this move was incredibly popular,” Hannity said.

In South Florida, Venezuelans gathered to celebrate the news of Nicolás Maduro’s capture, with rallies forming outside local restaurants.

At the same time, anti-Trump supporters rallied in certain places with uncertainty about the future in Venezuela, where people are confused and struggling to cope with a failing economy.

Maduro and his wife is being held at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn and facing narcoterrorism-related charges.

During their first court appearance on January 5, 2025, Maduro pleaded not guilty to federal drug trafficking charges, declaring himself innocent and calling himself “a decent man” and the legitimate president of Venezuela.
