While other celebrities were talking to every outlet that would listen and making bank off their high-profile weddings, bachelorette parties, bachelor parties, rehearsal dinners and so on, Sarah Polley quietly tied the knot in a tiny ceremony on August 23rd that she said was “pretty much the best wedding of all time.”
The shindig was far from a celebrity-studded, Dom Perignon soaked affair- it was held at a Toronto joint, Hasai, which a local paper describes as rustically featuring “pebble-encrusted walls, seashell wall sconces, light fixtures fashioned from sawn-off wine bottles and the odd pair of antlers.” Polley, who starred in such divergent projects as Dawn of the Dead, John Adams and My Life Without Me , wed attorney and PhD candidate David Sandomierski during the intimate gathering.
Polley had other news in addition to her low-profile nuptials. The indie actress also disclosed that she’s nearly four months pregnant with the couple’s first child. Aside from the baby due in February 2012, Polley hasn’t got any pending professional projects. The multi-talented Canadian star is, however, known to both act and direct- albeit separately. When asked in the past whether she planned on doing both together, she said:
“I like the feeling of keeping them separate. I find that really gratifying. I can’t imagine combining those. For me, I love the feeling of using different parts of my brain separately.”
Of the new phase in her life, Polley is very optimistic and seems thrilled. When asked about it, she told a reporter simply:
“I’m really excited, super excited!”
