British singer/songwriter Sam Smith got his first big break in October 2012 when he was featured on Disclosure’s “Latch.” The collaboration was a major hit, going to the Billboard Top Ten in the US and just three years later the UK brothers behind Disclosure have teamed up once more with the soulful Sam Smith on their new album, Caracal.

The single is a return to the pop sounds that the world was first introduced to Sam Smith with. After ‘Latch’ he was featured on Naughty Boy’s ‘La La La’ and his star has been rising ever since. His solo career has been a series of ballads that showcased the crooners softer side, winning him a slew of awards between 2014 and 2015. To see Smith return to the original pop sound that launched him into the hearts of many is a wonderful surprise, especially given Sam’s health scares and tour postponements recently.

The accompanying video to the ‘Omen’ track was released this week to much anticipation. Smith himself was elated to be working with the electronic duo and also about the video release, tweeting a link to his followers about the countdown.

The video was uploaded to YouTube on Disclosure’s VEVO channel, the video already has over 2.8 million views. The Times anticipates that ‘Omen’ will be a great success.

“…the duo is reuniting with a stubbly and svelter Smith once more—and they may not have to wait as long to burn up the dance floors this time. “Omen” is slower and funkier than its predecessor, with warped synths that tug and twist instead of twinkle, but success clearly hasn’t stopped the Brits from recapturing the magic of their breakthrough hit.”

The ‘Omen’ video starts by announcing it is ‘two weeks later’ as it is the second installment of a four part series to the Caracal album. The first installment was ‘Holding On’, Disclosure’s collaboration with Gregory Porter. Consequence of Sound reported the premise of the video for Smith and Disclosure’s ‘Omen ‘. Directed by Ryan Hope the videos will follow a girl named Mariella as she navigates a dystopian society.

Smith took to his instagram page within hours of the release to once more express his appreciation for the fans as the song soared to number 2 on the UK iTunes UK chart.

‘It’s a beautiful thing to wake up to @disclosure #OMEN being number 2 on UK iTunes and seeing all this insane response,’ Smith captioned a photo of him and Disclosure’s duo, Howard and Guy Lawrence.

September 25 is set to be the release date of Disclosure’s Caracal.
