Dick Clark Productions is on the selling block, and among the bidders? Celebrity host Ryan Seacrest .
The Boston Herald reports that the production company responsible for the Golden Globe Awards, So You Think You Can Dance , The American Music Awards, and Dick Clark’s famed New Year’s Rockin’ Eve With Ryan Seacrest has contacted the Raine Group, an investment bank with Hollywood talent agency William Morris Endeavor backing, in order to potentially sell the company to interested companies. Well, American Idol host Ryan Seacrest is interested, and is contemplating a potential buy for the company founded by Dick Clark.
According to Reuters , Seacrest’s camp had no comment on the matter, but it follows with the 37-year-old’s moves to build a media empire through his own production company, Ryan Seacrest Media. Aside from his gig on American Idol , Seacrest hosts a morning radio show, produces Keeping Up with the Kardashians on E!, and will contribute to NBC’s Today Show and 2012 Olympics coverage. He has also been named No. 1 on THR ‘s Reality Power List for the past two years. Seacrest is one of the most well-known and recognized media personalities in the business.
Dick Clark founded Dick Clark Productions in 1957 , selling his majority stake in the company to Mosaic Media Group in 2002. The production company is now owned by Red Zone Capital, a private-equity firm owned by Daniel Snyder, who also owns the Washington Redskins.
Seacrest began his friendship with Dick Clark in 2005 after he joined New Year’s Rockin’ Eve as a producer and co-host. Considering Clark as a mentor of sorts, he said “Fans of music, fans of television, broadcasters and certainly me personally as Dick Clark was one of those incredible pioneers of our business. He taught me how to do television. I studied him as a kid, and I had the fortunate opportunity to work with him for several years on New Year’s Eve,” after the icon’s death in April.
