Warrington Wolves player Paul Wood has had a testicle removed after it ruptured during Saturday’s rugby Grand Final defeat by Leeds Rhinos.
The 30-year-old prop was injured early in the second half of the encounter, which went on to be won by Leeds Rhinos compounding a pretty bad day for the sports’ star.
Speaking after the incident Woods stated, “I’m not too bad, it sounds worse than it is. An accidental knee caught me. I could feel I wasn’t right, but I managed to stay on for 20 minutes until Tony [Smith, Warrington Wolves’ coach] tooke me off.” Wow, I think every male reader has a new God to bow down to.
Wood’s cheeky demeanor after this incredible ordeal is a breathe of fresh air from the monotonous utterances of other sporting heros. “It’s something I’m going to look at because obviously I’ve only got one now – so i’ve got to look after it. If I want any more kids this has got to be my pride and joy.”
He even took to Twitter following his operation and posted, “Ruptured my right testicle, got a knee 1 minute into the second half, had to have it removed.” Before then adding, “Just coming out the hospital to go home … Seriously feel like I’ve left something?”
Apparently his teammates haven’t shown much sympathy and have mercilessly been ribbing the rugby player via text messages. Wood is set to celebrate his 31st birthday on Wednesday, so I expect that he might have a new wish when he blows out the candles on his cake.
