Comedian Ricky Gervais will be reviving his David Brent character from the UK version of The Office for Comic Relief.
Gervais created the original Office series, and his Wernham Hogg paper company boss was the basis for Steve Carell’s “Michael Scott” in the successful US adaptation of the show .
He will reprise the David Brent role in The Office Revisited, for Red Nose Day on March 15, reports BBC .
“I thought it was time to revisit my most famous comedy creation to find out what he’s been up to for the last decade,” Gervais told The Sun .
Though the Brent character appeared in two episodes of the American version of The Office , he hasn’t been seen on British TV since the two-part Christmas special in 2003.
Brent will be starting a new career as a talent manager in the music industry, trying to help urban solo artist Dom Johnson score a big break.
“He is passing on his wisdom to younger would-be rock stars now. Well, really he is trying to worm his way back into rock and roll,” said Gervais.
Gervais also tweeted a promotional image for a new protest song written by Brent called “Equality Street.” Gervais noted that the song is “horrendous.”

“Fans of The Office will be excited to know we finally get to hear the whole of The Serpent Who Guards the Gates of Hell,” Gervais added.
