‘Resident Evil 7’ To Have Different Hero Than In Demo – Will Be More Like Classic Games In Franchise

A couple of days ago, there was a demo released for Capcom’s Resident Evil 7, and it was uploaded for free on PSN. It only lasts about 20 minutes and gamers have enjoyed playing it repeatedly so they can try to find all the hidden things that are possibly in it. Well, they should enjoy it now and get it out of their system as Capcom has revealed that it is a prologue to the actual game and won’t actually be in the final release.
That’s not a bad thing, but some fans thought they were getting a jump on things and would be a little bit ahead once the final game was released. Well, they won’t be as Resident Evil 7 will actually have a different protagonist/hero than in the demo, and that will have them essentially starting from scratch.
On a good note, though, Capcom has confirmed that the franchise is heading back to the old-school classic feeling of the Resident Evil franchise.
On another interesting note, Kotaku is reporting that the upcoming game is going to be more like the classic Resident Evil games in the franchise. Going back to the horror genre more than the action genre which was seen in games 5 and 6 is what will bring back some of the fans that Capcom lost.
Resident Evil director Kushi Nakanishi spoke with IGN and said that while games have advanced, the focus of this one is horror.
“Puzzle solving, resource management, and combat [are all] coming down the line. They’re all in there, but we’re focusing on horror has come home as a kind of theme for the teaser demo. So if you thought the games were going away from horror in previous years, this is just a statement of intent, purpose, to say it’s back.”
The demo does reveal an axe will be a weapon and the “inventory” has returned, which has people excited, but again, this isn’t part of the final Resident Evil 7 game. This new chapter will be set in the same universe as the other games and fall after RE5 and RE6.
Nakanishi has said the game is indeed “survival horror,” and if you need any more proof that the classic style is coming back, he also said, “I can confirm herbs.”
It should come as no surprise, but Resident Evil 7 is going to be no joke, and Capcom is doing everything possible to make sure it is a hit. The creators want it to be scarier, more entertaining, and much different than what gamers have seen before while also bringing back the classic elements that once made the franchise so great.
The demo for Resident Evil 7 is one that has brought a small touch of fear and a great old-school feeling to a franchise that some thought was fading. While the demo is interesting and fun, knowing that Capcom is bringing back a classic feeling to the new game is something that will thrill a lot of fans. Perhaps it will truly be an iconic horror game once again and having herbs back in your inventory is enough to make any classic gamer happy.
