An autopsy report released Thursday, revealed that former wrestler “Macho Man” Randy Savage died from heart disease, not the car crash he was involved in earlier this May .

In the official report, Randy Poffo – the non-stage name of the super-star wrestler/actor – had an enlarged heart with severe atherosclerosis of his coronary arteries.

According to William Pellan, the Pinellas-Pasco Medical Examiner’s office DOI, the car crash, from which Savage recieved only minor cuts and bruises, played no direct role in his death.

“He had sustained no trauma from that crash,” explained Pellan. “So the Crash had nothing to do with his death. He just happened to be driving when he had a cardiovascular event.”

As is routine, the Medical Examiner’s Office also tested Savage for evidence of drugs or alcohol . At the time of his death, Savage had a blood-alcohol level of 0.031 which falls below the legal limit of .08.

In addition, Pellan also said Randy had trace amounts of the painkiller hydrocodone in his blood but being that Savage had a prescription for the drug, and that the amount found was a “therapeutic level,” he suspected no abuse.

Macho Man held twenty championships and was a ten-time world heavyweight champion in his pro wrestling career that spanned for more than two decades. His raspy voice, including his signature “Oh, yeah,” was well-known to wrestling fans and those who saw his commercials for Slim Jim beef jerky. Unknown to some, Randy also played “Bone Saw” in the box office hit, Spider-Man .

You will be missed Bone Saw.
