Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have been secretly engaged for almost half a year already, but the royal prince might have to abandon his royal duties if he wants to maintain his relationship with his fiancée, as reported by Express UK .
Sources claim that Queen Elizabeth is none too happy with the engagement because Markle is an American and a divorcee.
Harry, however, is reportedly willing to live a normal life if that’s what it’ll take for him and Meghan to continue their relationship.
“If it comes to it, he’ll put his foot down and say no to some royal duties,” a source told Life & Style magazine.
“Harry is strong-minded. He’s adamant about leading a normal life,” the source added.
Meghan, for her part, is reportedly hesitant about the notion of living like a princess because she doesn’t see herself “shaking hands, cutting ribbons and kissing babies in public” for the rest of her life.
As previously reported by the Inquisitr, Meghan Markle is getting “cold feet” about being engaged to Prince Harry because she’s afraid the public might start comparing her to Kate Middleton.
The insider maintained that if push comes to shove, Ms. Markle won’t abandon her royal responsibilities should circumstances require her to follow in Middleton’s footsteps.

“Meghan has told Harry that she doesn’t want to be like Kate. She wants to keep hold of her identity,” a source told Life & Style .
Meghan Markle is reportedly worried about what life would be like after marrying Prince Harry, considering that her family lives in California and her work in Suits requires her to travel back and forth to Toronto, where the legal drama is filmed.
That said, Markle’s misgivings about living a life of royalty may prove to be inconsequential as sources claim that she and Prince Harry are looking for a home in Hollywood Hills where they could settle down as a normal couple after getting married.
Rumors that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle might already be engaged were sparked by reports that the Suits actress was spotted trying on wedding dresses, suggesting that the secret engagement might be announced to the public soon.
There have been talks that the couple is not engaged yet but are considering engagement in the next two months after an unnamed source claimed that Harry is planning to pop the question to Meghan before his 33rd birthday on September 15.

Another insider told the Mail that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle could get engaged a week after the Invictus Games.
“Harry has found the girl he wants to spend the rest of his life with,” the insider said. “He is fueling all the talk about the future.”
“There’s no question they are madly in love,” a source close to the couple said.
“Harry is really happy, and from seeing them together I’d say it’s just a question of when, not if, he’s going to ask her to marry him.”
