Manchester United welcomes West Ham United in match-day of Premier League at the Old Trafford as the hosts try to build on their Europa League win this week.

After a comfortable 4-0 win against Feyenoord, the Red devils will look to replicate their dominating performance against the Hammers as well.

Jose Mourinho’s team is currently in the fifth position of the Premier League table with 19 points. A win against West Ham won’t increase their standings on the table, however, it will keep their chase for the Champions League spot alive.

West Ham, on the other hand, has failed to meet up the expectations of their fans this season. They are lingering in 17th position of the league table with 11 points. A win, starting against Manchester United, is imperative for the London team if they are to alter their misfortunes.

Last year, when these two teams came against each other, West Ham defeated Man United 3-2 at the Boleyn Ground.

However, West Ham was shockingly defeated by their rivals Tottenham in the last game. They had made a 2-1 lead over United until the 88th minute but lost the match 3-2. The Hammers defense must start showing resilience if they are to grab all three points in thihigh-pressurere game.

Team News: Manchester United

Jose Mourinho’s team is partly troubled by injury problems ahead of the clash against West Ham.

Defender Chris Smalling will be watching the game from the stands as his knee ligament injury keeps him out.

Eric Bailey hasn’t resumed full training; a knee injury has kept him out of the team. His absence from the team could weaken the backline stability of Man United.

Daily Blind replaced Eric Bailey and gave an impressive performance in the win against Feyenoord on Thursday. Hence, the Dutch international, probably, will be given defensive responsibility Mourinho vs. West Ham.

Mourinho’s midfield pillar Marouane Fellaini aslo will be available for the selection since he hasn’t recovered from his calf injury.

Captain Wayne Rooney scored the opening goal against Feyenoord. He is likely to be in Mourinho’s starting XI against West Ham. In the same match, Henrikh Mkhitaryan got his second start of the season under Jose Mourinho, and he delivered a virtuoso performance. He also may get a starting role in this match.

Slaven Bilic’s side has long list of injuries going towards this match.

Striker Andy Caroll is ruled out due to a knee injury. Defenders Sam Bryam and Reece Oxford are both unavailable for the selection due to their hamstring and knee injuries, respectively.

Diafra Sakho has returned from his back injury, and the Hammers will possess a fluent attack in his presence in the team.

Winston Reid will miss the match due to suspension. However, captain Mark Noble completed his one match ban, and he is ready to play against the Red Devils.

West Ham’s season prior to this match has been hugely appalling. Moreover, the player’s injuries has added another setback to the London team.

Adrian – Kouyate, Winston, Ogbonna – Antonio, Obiang, Cresswell, Lanzini – Ayew, Payet – Sakho

Manchester United vs. West Ham: Prediction

Manchester United desperately wants a win to keep their challenge for the top four spot hope alive. This is one of the crucial match for Mourinho’s men where they need to show what they are made of. The Red Devils drew the previous Premier League match against Arsenal 1-1, but they will look to overcome that misfortune in the coming match. Hence, they will try to play their best match against the traveling West Ham and beat them on their own turf.

West Ham also needs three points to drag themselves out of the bottom zone. The Hammers are on a terrible form as they haven’t been able to win in their last three matches.

The match, undoubtedly, will bring a great excitement to even neutrals. But, Mourinho’s men have a greater chance to win this fixture.
