Portable Methamphetamine Lab Blows Up In Suspect’s Pants

A routine traffic stop became an explosive situation early Saturday morning when a portable meth lab bottle detonated in a suspect’s pants according to law enforcement.

An Oklahoma state trooper stopped an SUV for speeding in Okmulgee County. When the trooper gave the driver a ticket, he caught a whiff of a chemical smell. When the trooper attempted to question the passenger about the smell, he bailed, apparently with meth leaking down his leg.

KOTV, Tulsa reports that the trooper said that “After a brief struggle it was determined there was an active meth lab in his pants that burst during the struggle and got all over his body.”

Anyone who watches the television series Cops knows that you don’t run from the police. No one was burned, fortunately.

The suspect was arrested on a complaint of manufacture of a controlled and dangerous substance. The driver wasn’t arrested.

A portable meth lab is also known as a one-pot lab. As the Inquisitr has already reported , the one-pot technique requires a simple 2-liter bottle, putting the deadly cocktail right into the brewer’s hands. Says one law enforcement official: “You’re holding a flame-thrower in your hands.” Also, the method uses less pseudoephedrine than dated recipes, creates usable drugs in minutes, and is much easier to conceal and carry, it has become the production method of choice, and about 80% of meth labs busted by the DEA in 2010 used the technique.

Unlike the sophisticated method used by criminal mastermind Walter White in Breaking Bad , perhaps, this technique often sends many meth-cooking burn victims to the emergency ward.

Meth and other amphetamine-type stimulants are thought to be the second most widely used class of illegal drugs in the world.
