An Iowa mom is accused of being high on meth while at a Chuck E. Cheese’s restaurant in Council Bluffs. KCCI News reports that the 39-year-old woman faces multiple charges in association with the incident, which is attracting a lot of mainstream media attention.

Police say that 39-year-old Christine Hall was arrested as part of an ongoing investigation surrounding the possible neglect of her three children. The Daily Nonpareil reports that the mom admitted to social workers that she had smoked meth near her children during an incident over the summer. She admitted to stopping at a gas station, where she smoked meth with the children’s father inside the bathroom, leaving the children in the car. She told the social workers that she then went to a Chuck E. Cheese’s restaurant with the three children while high on the illicit drug.

Authorities say that not only did the 39-year-old Iowa mom test positive for meth use, but so did one of her children. A hair strand test has reportedly determined that the 3-year-old girl had been exposed to the drug.

This isn’t the first time this dangerous drug has made headlines — especially in regards to the alleged neglect or abuse of children. Earlier this year, an Arizona mom was arrested after she reportedly gave crystal meth to her 2-year-old daughter. Sadly, the little girl died from an overdose of the drug, which has led to 30-year-old Natalie Russell being charged with murder.

Also this year, a Pennsylvania mom was arrested after her 1-year-old son tested positive for the dangerous drug. Enews Courrier reports that 25-year-old Hannah Gladden allegedly exposed the infant to her illicit drug use . She was charged with chemical endangerment of a child.

In March, a Missouri mom was arrested on various felony charges, and it was all because of the existence of one damning photo. Police say a photo began to circulate that appears to show 28-year-old Ashley Lewis smoking methamphetamine out of a glass pipe while her 6-month-old daughter is laying right next to her on the couch . The photograph went viral on Facebook earlier this year, which led to the arrest of the Missouri mom.

Ashley Lewis has been charged with possession of a controlled substance, first-degree endangering the welfare of a child, and possession of drug paraphernalia. Police say that the Missouri mom admitted that she had used the drug in the presence of her child and admitted that it was indeed her and her baby in the viral photograph.

As for this latest case out of Iowa, police have charged Christine Hall with neglect and endangerment after she admitted to smoking meth near her children. She was booked on bail in the amount of $10,000 but has since been released from jail. There are no reports clarifying whether her children — ages 1, 3, and 16 — have been removed from her custody. The Iowa mom is expected to appear in court in December.

Do you think mothers who smoke meth should lose custody of their children, or do you think rehabilitation could lead to fewer incidents such as the above story?
