Pia Toscano: Signs Record Deal, Kicks off ‘American Idols Live Tour’

Pia Toscano didn’t come close to taking the title on American Idol – she didn’t even crack the top 8 despite having a huge fan base – but apparently the 22-year-old singer didn’t need it.
After weeks of speculation, Interscope Records officially announced it has inked a record deal with Toscano, who also will be releasing her debut single, This Time, on July 12th.
“I am thrilled to be joining the Interscope and 19 Recordings family…This is a dream come true,” Toscano said in a statement earlier today.
For those of you that are unable to wait a full week to hear the new sound, Pia will also be performing it during her slot on the American Idols Live tour, which is scheduled to begin today in Salt Lake City, Utah.
As for her debut album, which is due out later this year, Toscano told People Magazine:
“It’s definitely going to be big ballads, but there’s also going to be those fun up-tempo songs, those dancing songs.” She continued, “I feel like on the show people really only saw me in one way and I want to show the world that I can do other things.”
Though the album is not yet complete, producer Rodney Jerkins, who has recorded three songs with Pia, said fans can expect big things.
