Peter Dinklage picked up the Best Supporting Actor at Sunday night’s Emmy ceremony for his performance on Game Of Thrones. But the actor was so unprepared for this success that he was actually chewing gum when his name was announced.
Of course, Peter Dinklage didn’t want to be seen chewing gum when he was up on stage giving his acceptance speech, so he decided to deposit it in the most discreet manner possible, by spitting it into his wife’s, Erica Schmidt’s, mouth.
You can check out the rather damning video evidence of the incident below.
Yep, it looks as though Peter Dinklage is pretty guilty of this despicable crime. Let’s just take a look at the evidence.
Shortly after beating Jonathan Banks (Better Call Saul), Jim Carter (Downton Abbey ), Alan Cumming (The Good Wife ), Michael Kelly (House Of Cards ), and Ben Mendelsohn (Bloodline ), to the accolade, Dinklage could be seen giving his wife a kiss as they celebrated.
Dinklage then went back in for a second kiss with his spouse, but not before he could clearly be seen chewing something in his mouth. This second lip lock was much shorter than the first though, and it looked as though he could be seen quickly spitting something.
Dinklage then left the scene of the crime smirking, while his wife also began to start laughing at his rancid antics.
Then just to confirm that Peter Dinklage had actually committed his rather disgusting deed, the actor began his speech by declaring, “I wasn’t prepared at all for this, I was even chewing gum.”
Which, even though his character on the show murdered his own father with a crossbow while he sat on the toilet, and was fully aware that his brother and sister have been having a torrid love affair for decades that has resulted in three children, is still one of the most disgusting things to ever be associated with Game Of Thrones.
Dinklage continued his speech at the ceremony by declaring, “I wasn’t prepared because the other actors in my category I’m still kind of awed by their performances… We’re only as good as our writers and I’m lucky enough to work with the greatest writers.”
This was Peter Dinklage’s second Emmy success in this category, having been nominated for seven years in a row, while Game Of Thrones also won three other trophies on the night, including for its writing, direction and Outstanding Drama.
