A renowned socialite from Brazil, Rodrigo Alves’ botched plastic surgery resulted in serious health complications, and he reached out to experts seeking a solution. Will doctors be able to help him, or will he have to live with these complications? Read on to find out.

While appearing on E! Online’s Botched, Rodrigo Alves shared that he had 42 plastic surgeries, which included a brow lift, eye lift, replacement of silicone chin implants, jaw reconstruction, ears pinned back, and nose surgeries three times. He claimed to have spent £35,000 (approx. $450,000) on these cosmetic surgeries only to end up with a botched nose! He admitted getting his rhinoplasty in Tehran, Iran, after he heard that the country was “number one” for nose jobs.

Initially, Rodrigo was quite happy and satisfied with the results, but he later started noting changes in his nose, including a dent on the left side that caused him difficulty breathing. He returned to Los Angeles to consult plastic surgeons Dr. Terry Dubrow and Dr. Paul Nassif, and what he hoped would be his “seventh and last rhinoplasty.”

Dr. Nassif recalled the socialite’s previous meeting with them when they had suggested rebuilding his nose with rib cartilage and fixing his breathing issues instead of making the nose smaller. However, Rodrigo declined the idea at the time as he wanted to have a more sculpted nose and didn’t want a scar on his ribs.

The plastic surgeons were shocked to learn that Rodrigo had undergone three nose surgeries in a span of one year, insisting that it takes 1-2 years for the nose to heal from one plastic surgery procedure. During the examination, the plastic surgeons explained that the repeated procedures massively impacted the blood supply and tissue inside his nose.

Dr. Nassif described it as “probably one of the worst results and complications” he had ever seen in his career. Concerned by the serious aftermath of his rhinoplasty, Rodrigo lamented and expressed his concern, stating, “I feel like crying right now.”

The plastic surgeon then explained, “The issue is that what we call the soft tissue envelope—that’s the skin. By you having three surgeries in a period of 12 to 15 months destroyed your tissue. The skin’s no good.” He continued by stating that there was no airway inside his nose and it was all “scarred.”

The doctor pointed out that, considering his surgery three months ago, it was expected to “scar down more” as it was still in the recovery phase. Without mincing his words, Dr. Nassif gave honest advice, stating, “If you try to insult your skin one more time now while it’s healing, there’s a high possibility that if you let one of these doctors touch your nose now, this will turn black and then die and fall off.”

Doctors told Rodrigo that fixing his nose would require a major reconstruction using rib cartilage and replacement tissue. The extent of the procedure overwhelmed him, and he said he would rather live with a damaged nose than undergo such drastic plastic surgery. Although disappointed, he accepted their advice and agreed to wait for further healing.
