EA’s been talking about adding third-party titles to their digital distribution service, Origin, for several months now. If they want to be competitive with Steam and all of the other services out there, they’d just about have to. Starting next month, that’s exactly what they’ll be doing.
EA announced today that third-party titles from THQ, Warner Bros. Interactive and Capcom will be making their way over to Origin, with some of the titles said to include Saints Row: The Third , Batman: Arkham City and several titles from Capcom’s PC lineup.
“Since launch, we’ve had overwhelming support from both publishers and developers across the gaming industry, recognizing Origin as an opportunity to deliver more of their great content straight to consumers across the globe,” said David DeMartini, senior vice president of Origin in a press release. “We’re excited to welcome Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment, THQ and Capcom as the first publishers to offer their games via Origin.”
In the coming months, EA plans to release more and more titles from THQ, Warner Bros. Interactive and Capcom over on Origin, and it’s likely we’ll start to see more and more publishers sign on over time.
